Nov 30/12: On the Danube

Good Morning from Passau in Austria,

We are still on the Danube, moored at a dock in Passau. The plan for the day is that Rosie will get off the boat and take an arranged bus tour overland while I stay on board and travel with the boat thru the series of locks along this stretch of the river. She will take land pictures and I will take river pictures throughout the day. Think it will be fun.

The weather here is similar to London at this time of the year, overcast and gloomy. It will rain before it snows at this point. Our cabin is neat, functional and very small. We could not have done our SA trip in a cabin as small as this one. We have to take turns brushing our teeth because we have difficulty both being in the washroom at the same time.

As usual I have been sick over the past few days. Head cold. Think it started in London because I began to feel raspy in my throat in Budapest on Sunday and it has become worse since then. I had supper in our cabin last night. Have used at least one full box of Kleenex and have been drinking tea with honey and lemon for 3 days. I brought pills for the stomach but not the throat. Rosie on the other hand brought a pharmacy along with her so we have been OK with treatments.

The trip has been very smooth. Hardly feel any motion and the engines are very quiet. Quite often we do not know if we are moving or not unless we are actually looking outdoors.

Carl, I will send you my football picks Friday or Saturday. I assume we did not win anything last week. Should have picked the Bears!

Take care

Phil
